Advancements and developments in AI (Artificial intelligence) seem to be moving at ‘lighting speed’ (for those working outside the computing/IT field). Understanding what AI is and keeping up to date on the latest developments and what might be useful for businesses can be very challenging.
Leicestershire Business Voice’s AI for Business October event focuses on the advances in the hot topic of AI and the pros/cons of AI for business by showcasing academic research, demonstrating how businesses are using AI to grow and innovate as well as providing a mechanism for local businesses to meet and network with specialists in the field.

LBV’s AI for Business event provides a great opportunity to meet and hear from local AI specialists including IBM who are either researching and working in AI and or using AI to drive productivity and growth. The speakers will showcase and demonstrate AI solutions such as ChatGPT and how latest AI technologies are being used by organisations around the world.

Speakers include:
Gary Kingsbury is the General Manager for IBM UK Client Innovation Centre. Gary has successfully delivered a large number of complex systems integration projects within the UK Public Sector. He has over 25 years experience of engineering, systems integration and application delivery covering the full life-cycle from initial concept through to transition and ongoing support.
Adam Payne FInstLM is the New Way Growth Founder, Business Growth Mentor and Client Acquisition specialist. Over the years, Adam has supported business owners and their teams in achieving their most ambitious goals, focusing on business strategy and planning, sales & marketing, getting and keeping customers and applying the mindset to achieve success.
He’s a multiple small business owner, a qualified business mentor and growth coach. He’s also certified in digital marketing, customer acquisition, content and direct response marketing and social media strategy.
Adam has been responsible for growth, strategy and operations on a number of FTSE 100, blue chip private equity organisations.
Baljit Virdee is the Senior Vice President of Sales at Cyferd, a role in which he combines his extensive sales expertise with a passion for cutting-edge technology. With a background deeply rooted in financial services and sales, Baljit brings a wealth of experience and a profound understanding of Cyferd’s platform to his role.

Professor Mario Gongora is Professor in Applied Intelligent Systems and senior member of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence in the School of Computer Science and Informatics at De Montfort University (DMU). He is currently focusing in the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques into the fields of Data Analysis of large and complex datasets and modelling Natural Phenomena, including identification, simulation and optimisation. Dr. Gongora has extensive experience in the analysis and modelling of natural inspired systems and behaviours using computational tools. His experience involves the use of evolutionary computing and machine learning techniques to identify systems from large/incomplete datasets, modelling and emergence of complex behaviour in artificial systems and environments; and use of the models to simulate, predict or optimise the performance of systems in an on-going automated learning cycle.
Professor Tracey Harwood is Professor of Digital Culture & Deputy Director at De Montfort University (DMU). Her research focusses on applications and impacts of emerging technologies. Current projects explore the use of artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), virtual/augmented/mixed reality (VR/AR/MR). She has an industry management background and has a PhD in negotiation behaviour. She is director of the university’s Usability Lab, founder and director of the award-winning Art founder and director of the award-winning Art AI Festival and a co-host of international podcast, And Now For Something Completely Machinima
